Melvin Chenault-Jazz Guitarist

As a new fan of Melvin Chenault's flava...I found his sound exciting. It
was something new for me to experience from a jazz artist...the
diversity, uniqueness kept me on edge in not knowing what to expect from
each piece as I listened. Causing a sense of calm to a sway of my
hips...Melvin Chenault is refreshing. I look forward to experiencing
more of his talents and sharing his flava with my radio shows.

Subuda-Musictry Guy Williams & John D. Green Sr. Guy Williams as an eclectic spoken word artist along with the blend of the beautifully composed instrumentals and vocals from John D. Green Sr bring a different twist to what is a growing art form of what John calls their sound, Musictry. Guy has a style of his own, touching on subjects of life in an interesting way with his use of words and delivery. John brings a very beautiful element with his musical flair to complete this duo as the spotlight for their style and talent is recognized in Michigan where they are both from to those on the West Coast and beyond.

Shamako Noble stepped onto the Leopard Carpet with me for a 2nd time...This time we talked about his return to Seattle, to share the release of his new mix-tape "The Sword of the West" with the beautiful Dione Johnson as the Host. What a pleasure it was to have Shamadko on my radio show again...but to finally meet him in person the next day at the Faire Gallery Cafe was an experience that I will treasure.
As a newcomer to the Hip Hop Scene...I am like a kid in a candy store ready to experience the flavasd...but to sit amongst those in Seattle that have a true love for the culture and community that Hip Hop has created amongst many...was so electrifying, raw and organic...with a feeling that the artists created off the cuff with pure perfection,
Sitting with Page One as we experience the likes of Jamil Suleman, Julie C, Suntonio Bandanaz and Korvus Blackbird to my family Jace ECAj and Silas Blak aka Silent Lambs Project. For someone who is new to Hip Hop this was a feel that I fell in love with, as I learned more and more about why the attendees love Hip Hop.
Shamako Noble is like a TeddyBear...warm and gentle but a powerhouse on the mic...although we did not experience his talents as a MC in person, we had the opportunity to listen to the flava of his mixtape, "The Sword of the West" which shared the talents of Shamako Noble and several of his friends here in the Pacific Northwest into California. Shamako Beat Boxed which I have never seen in person, as the talents in the house got on the mic for an amazing cypher. I am not sure how he was able to keep it going for as long as he did...but then I have heard him do a 30 minute free-style on the radio.
Faire Gallery is a small intimate space run by and old friend of my,
Rodger Pegues. Nothing fancy about the setting but a true sense of
appreciation, love and respect for all that gathered during this night. The crowd not too large. In my opinion, all that were meant to be there were and in that, made this night special.
Shamako Noble has a new fan out of me and I look forward to experiencing he, his talents, his friends and witness his true commitment to the culture of hip hop in the West.

Opening night of the highly anticipated "I Love My Life" Tour of Black Stax. Owuor Arunga on trumpet memorizes the crowd as he plays with his back towards us, while setting the mood for all in attendance. Makeda Abude a spiritual dancer brings her flair of building community through dance as the tone is really set for this night.
Opening up for Black Stax is the beautiful young talents of Portland, OR native female hip hop talents of Rose Bent...bringing their high energy flava with a strong performance. They definitely know how to get a crowd to their feet, ready to party.
Black Stax comes out strong with Miss Felicia Loud, Silas Blak, Jace ECAj along Owuor and Dj Neebor.
Sharing the flava of the tracks you can find on their CD, "Talking Buildings" Such as The Hardest, the single track that is known worldwide and tour title, "I Love My Life" to one of my favorites, Warrior Spirit. People pushing close to the stage, folks sing loud and proud, "I Love My Life" heads bobbing and hands waving as all came together as a community to experience and support these veteran artists on this opening night of their 3 day, "I Love My Life" Tour.
For those of you that know me, you know that Black Stax is my family and you may say that I am bias when it comes to how I feel about them...The are my introduction to Hip Hop, they have allowed me to experience them along with teaching me the foundation of this genre. As I experience them, I have had the opportunity to see them perform in a variety of venues and with an diverse group of talents and crowd. Each show is different. What I have come to appreciate about Black Stax is how they can perform the same songs over and over and bring a different feel...feeding off the crowds energy and their own moods.
The opening night of the "I Love My Life" Tour was just the beginning of what we will be experiencing from this Pacific Northwest Group...who is being recognized across the United States to around the Globe. Title: My Finest Hour Genre: Hip Hop Artist: Swift Tongues
10 Flava Snaps
Lady Flava gets the exclusive of Swift Tongues New Album..."My Finest Hour"
before it is pressed and ready for public viewing...
My Finest Hour is a perfect title for this Album.
For me, Swift Tongues did not disappoint...Perfection in the production
all the way. The stories told and felt...the collaborations with other
artists and choice of artists was on point. This album is an easier
listening for me, based on subjects of all the tracks...such as "Fair
Westside" ft Boston Black to "Sharp as the Needle" that will get you
bouncing. Flipping things to a Grunge sound with "Seattle Sound" ft Tracy
Dyson to "Sunglasses" ft Che Blaq with a club feel and then Choose ft
Toots one of my favorite duo. With "My Finest Hour" I believe that this
will open the doors for Swift Tongues to reach a larger listener
base/fan base opening the doors for much more exposure that he is so
deserving of.
As I have had the opportunity to sit
back and watch Swift Tongues over this past year, I am so very
impressed. When I think about an artist that has all the the elements
needed to succeed...Swift Tongues is a model to be recognized.and appreciated.
I sincerely send out my best wishes to Swift Tongues as he continues his
journey as an artists and entrepreneur in this entertainment/media
game.
Title: Beyond The Stage Genre: Spoken Word CD Artist: Eyrk Moore
Rating: 10 Flava Snaps
As you take the journey with this powerful spoken word artist, the delivery of his words grabs your attention while drawing you into his embrace of wordly magic around real life situations. Eyrk Moore is an artist I have know for a few years and no matter the piece nor the subject or even the number of times I may have heard a piece performed before...I feel, I feel the depths of life described at that moment.
When receiving the honor to be asked to review Beyond The Stage...I sat in the quiet of my office and closed my eyes to give it my full attention. Eryk addresses many topics from perception to interpretation of many everyday situations that we too may have experience from the good the bad and the ugly of the world that surrounds us.
From the solo pieces to the collaborations with other amazing talents such as his dear friends Nabraska, Mannie the Poet and LyriQ...it will take you into a very professional, well thought through and produced piece of art called "Beyond The Stage." If you are all ready a fan of spoken word you will truly appreciate this CD but if you are new to this art form...this is a great opportunity to experience spoken word at it's BEST.
This is a fine piece of art Eyrk Moore. I wish you much success from the sales of this CD to God opening the doors for people from around the world to experience your flava.

Artist: My Head Radio Genre: Poetry/Music CD 2 CD's: Reality Check & On Air
8 Flava Snaps
Such a unique sound between the lyrics of the Poet, Guy Williams out of Michigan to that of the band out of Amsterdam. Sharing the exciting capabilities of these two entities in collaborating across the internet waves, creating a sound, a flava that is clearly their own. Interesting, thought provoking and fun.
In listening to the two CD's and trying to determine the direction to go in writing this review. I find myself going back to one sitting inside ones head, with thoughts that cross our minds but speaking them out loud. Who has not gone to a diner or public location and had a conversation with self as to what they witness there, such as what you might experience when listening to "Tom's Diner." Then there is "Big Foot Prince" that touches on religion and what your real thoughts are on the teaching of what you think you know... Both of these tracks you will find on the "Reality Check" CD. Then Guy Williams addresses race. How we can divide and use race as an excuse for...as you listen to "Odd I See Victims" Then there is "Five Year Lawsuit...challenging the supposed quick fix from a bottle for your life imperfections. Both pieces found on the "On Air" CD.
Touching on topics around life, relationships, parenthood, race, religion, politics, music and more. Guy Williams speaks out loud those thoughts that we may not have the courage to express ourselves. Listening to Reality Check & On Air you might question what you heard. At first I thought I need to be able to get it the first time around, but the intriguing thing for me was that these pieces drew me back into listening to both of these CD's again & again. Between the lyrical content by Guy Williams to the vocals and musical talents of the band...it brings these eclectic productions to life.
From the interesting word play, causing a challenging effect on me as the one experiencing the art of My Head Radio, the music brings to life the expressiveness of their combined flava. The more I listen to Reality Check & On Air, I find that my opinion changes. With this said, I am conflicted in some ways as to how to describe my experience and feelings. I see this as not a bad thing. The production of these CD's was on point. The combination of Guy Williams with the band is like a hand in glove, complimenting each other with perfection. I would recommend Realty Check & On Air to those that love to be provoked by what you hear and experience from words and music.

Although, generally this video is not a style that I would co-sign on nor promote...but I do feel it is well done and the visual helps share the story of the words. So I would say. Good Job, Razor Reese!
Spell on You by Black Stax...raw, community/family feel...communing over life, spirituality and sharing of a feast...With the dancer Makeda Abude really bringing the element of mystique to this black and white video showing a true sense and feel of this family known as Black Stax.
This video is special to me...I was present for the creation and filming of this video...if you watch closely you can even get a glimpse of me...lol. As the signature song featuring Felicia Loud is turned into a special visual, now the world can get a taste of the woman behind the song and how the diversity of the people who love this piece came together to share in the creation of this video. There was so much love and appreciation felt in this space as we shared genuinely with each other a sense of community, family and friends...smiles, hugs, laughter and love with felt and truly was capture well to take, " I Love My Life" to a whole different level than I believe even, Black Stax could have anticipate when recording this song in 2009. I Love My Life is being played around the world and has crossed over into a variety of groups of people, gaining them as fans for life.
