Born from a family of musicians in the United States, Kamilean would
quickly be thrusted into an atmosphere of gospel, funk, soul, and jazz.
He always loved music, and dance, but it wasn’t until after travelling
with his mother and meeting countless amounts of different well-known
international celebrities like Natalie Cole, and Paul Anka ; for whom
his mother was a backround vocalist, that he decided to make his dream
come true and become a musician. Los Angeles, and Erie, PA. Were two
places the door for music and dance opened up to him. He began to learn
Jamaican Patois by listening to reggae-dancehall, and ragga style music.
Yet he wouldn’t meet his reknowned dance instructors Suga Pop, and
Popin’ Pete, (Electric Boogaloos) before May 2004 in Thun, Switzerland.
These two styles enhance his passion for singing, and formed a
ragga-soul cocktail. Explosive beverage with a soul base, highlighted by
reggae and ragga, the whole being glazed by dance. Kamilean’s music
reflects this mixture already influenced from his own divers ethnic
backrounds afro-american, chinese (cantonese), and hispanic
(castellano).
After collaborating with national and international artists such as
Richard ``Humpty`` Vission, Pete Lorimer, Superfunk, DJ. Philip Morax,
and manifesting himself at various events and concerts in Switzerland
and Europe, Kamilean would finally release his first solo album :
Contrast. The album that would allow us to take a plunge into his world
mixed with reggae, soul, and ragga not to mention the hints of classical
music also. Once he attracts the masses on stage in the USA, he would
then proceed to do the same in Switzerland and other foreign countries.
With all being said it’s easy to understand how we find Kamilean with
featured artists on his album such as : Patrice/Germany,
Ganjaman/Germany, Yvan, Double Pact/Switzerland, and Philipp Schnyder/
Ganglords (Switzerland).
Author, composer, interpreter, dancer, and natural musician, Kamilean
lures us into his contrasted, mixed, and well-blended universe open to
the world. A world where the many divers influences meet together, a
world that moves… like a Kamilean.
