Life|65|The Tools My Daddy Gave Me

The Tools My Daddy Gave Me

On August 29, 2016, my Daddy sat beside me and whispered in my ear:

“I gave you all the tools you need while I was with you on earth. Now it’s time for you to use them.”

Those words have never left me. In that moment, I felt his presence so clearly—steady, loving, and guiding me forward.

My father, Rev. Peter T. Koshi, lived his life with faith, integrity, and compassion. He taught me resilience in the face of hardship, the power of kindness, and the importance of standing firm in my truth. Every lesson, every example, was a tool he placed gently in my hands.

Now, years later, I see how often I lean on those tools:

When life feels overwhelming, I hear his steady voice reminding me to pause and pray. When challenges arise at work or in relationships, I remember the strength he modeled—calm but unshakable. When I doubt myself, I return to the foundation he gave me: you are equipped, you are capable, you are enough.

His legacy isn’t just in what he did during his lifetime, but in how he prepared me to live mine.

I carry his spirit forward every day. And when I use the tools he gave me—patience, faith, kindness, wisdom—I honor him by living as he taught me.

Your daughter,

Susan “Lady Flava” Koshi

His legacy isn’t just in what he did during his lifetime, but in how he prepared me to live mine. I was deeply blessed in how I was raised, and I carry that blessing with me every day.

I carry his spirit forward every day. And when I use the tools he gave me—patience, faith, kindness, wisdom—I honor him by living as he taught me.
