60+ | What’s Your Healthy Look Like?

As we age many of us have some form of health concerns. Maybe it’s from drinking and smoking or eating a high rich diet and not watching our salt and sugar intake. Maybe we have poor sleep habits or struggle to get restful sleep. Not drinking enough water is a huge issue for the 60+ category which leads to dehydration and UTIs.

Here’s my story…

I had created a pretty healthy regiment while living life on my own in Vegas.

4-5am wake up

Early morning prayer and meditation

Movement (exercise video)

Water first thing in the morning (throughout the day into the evening)

Fruit & Veggie Smoothie (usually with chia & flaxseeds, sometimes other minerals and nutrients)

I stop eating at 6pm

Water& Herbal Tea in the evening

Sit in quiet to release the stress of the day.

Phone calls to loved ones

7-9pm

Prayer and Meditation

Sleep through the night.

Now the I am back home in Seattle, I have not established a strong routine of my eating habits.

I still do prayer and meditation, I drink water and herbal teas. Lately I have been eating a handful of walnuts, Greek yogurt and mixed fruit at work. I walk Mon-Fri up and down hills plus stairs and I know that has contributed to my 12 weight loss.

But I have not made my veggie, fruit smoothies until today. I eat past 6pm and usually go to bed on a full stomach. I know I need to do better and I will, because I can tell a difference between how I feel. Maybe I can see what it will be like to make my smoothie at night, to the noise doesn’t disturb my family.

The older we all get, we need to be mindful of what we put into our bodies. Many health issues could be curved by simply incorporating healthy habits.

Health and Wellness is something I research. I am a think chick who is heavier than what I should weigh for my height. Plus I have had double knee replacements and know to keep them successful I need to loose weight and keep moving. I believe hormonal Imbalance is an issue for me and why I don’t loose the weight like I wish I could…I’m still researching this.

What does your health routine look like or do you feel you need to make some healthy changes? Let’s start supporting each other in our journey to health and wellness.
