Chola

My daughter and grandbaby ended up being the final family/caregivers of my brother in law’s family dog. Of course the girls were the perfect ones to care for her because she was apart of their family for years.

My family has 2 kittens that fell right into a family with Chola

I have known Chola since she was a pup and over time when visiting over at my brother in law’s house…when I returned home to live with my daughter and grandbaby, I came to really love Chola. She struggled to walk and breathe, but there were moments where she seemed to forget her limitations and you could see a glimpse of joy. She would come up to me so I would Tap her body from head and down her back or to just pet her calling her pretty girl.

Things became harder and harder for Chola and in the end she had numerous seizures. My daughter decided it was time to put her down and made arrangements for us to take her to the Tacoma Humane Society. We said our goodbyes at the car, they wouldn’t let us all come in. All of a sudden my daughter brought Chola back out…They would not put her down because Chola was chipped registered to my ex sister in law.

So we brought her home. The seizures became more frequent, so I laid down on the floor with her…wanting to keep her calm and safe. I stayed with her for awhile and I told her that I loved her but that it was okay to let go… 🙏

On September 11, 2023 my daughter contacted a vet that Chola had gone to and explained what was going on….they agreed to put her down that day. So when I got home from work, we headed to Urban Animal in West Seattle.

Let me tell you, it turned into a beautiful experience….I told Chola to find my mom and dad that they would love her. Cried but was at peace with this decision and how Urban Animal handled the whole experience.
