“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” “Each person must live their life as a model for others.” “I would like to be remembered as a person who wanted to be free…so other people would also be free.” “I knew someone had to take the first step and I made up my mind not to move.” ~Rosa Parks~

Rosa Parks Arrested
On the evening of December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, an African American, was arrested for disobeying an Alabama law requiring black passengers to relinquish seats to white passengers when the bus was full. Blacks also were required to sit at the back of the bus. Her arrest sparked a 381-day boycott of the Montgomery bus system and led to a 1956 Supreme Court decision banning segregation on public transportation.

The lifetime impact that her life and actions have had on our Black Brothers and Sisters, to the reality check to those that have never been affected by the horrendous treatment because of the color of their skin…my never know the power of this one lady’s decision to say, NO.

I’ve always understood the Power that 1 person could and have in effecting change. Rosa Parks is that type of representation in my opinion. Sometimes people get tired of how things are and just stop and say, no.
I was blessed to witness several of my elders who stepped up to make a difference, some faced opposition and others were able to make shifts.
To be honest, I always want to make a difference in how people and creatives viewed and supported Original Artistry. I believe in original art so much and have witnessed amazing talents that deserved to go beyond their immediate network and following. They deserve so much more…. I thought I could make a difference… just 1 person, for Indie Arts and Entertainment.
Maybe I have made an impact. I do believe that those who follow me, those I’ve worked with and those have supported, will say that I am fully committed to what and whom I believe in.
I believe every significant movement towards change and making a difference, can start with 1 person. Miss Rosa Parks represents the power that 1 person can have on a community, region, nation and world.
