A&E | Know The Words By Heart

You may not appreciate me writing this, but this is my truth.

I strongly believe as a professional entertainer, you should never perform something if you do not know the words or are not prepared. Stick to what you know and what your vibe will bring a real great experience to your audience.

I have experienced in person and watching live-streamed shows where performers used a table or phone because they didn’t know the words. It took away from my appreciation of their talents because I was distracted by what they were looking down at and scrolling to see the words.

You want to stand out and be memorable.

Early in my career as Lady Flava, I was told you bring your best every time you hit the stage because you never know who may be in the audience that to be apart of opening the door for more opportunities.

When you’re a novice at performing in front of people, of course you can have paper or a device to help you remember the words. But in my opinion a professional should always know the words to what they are performing.

Electronic devices can be distracting from really experiencing your talents.

I know many times, preachers use paper and devices while preaching, and I will say that I am more accepting of this although I appreciate a memorized message.

I appreciate preparedness when it comes to wanting to be respected as a professional.
