Are you a leader or a follower?

Are You a Leader or a Follower?
When I saw this question, I paused.
Because truthfully… I’m both.
And I’m okay with that.
“Leading in My Own Way: A Reflection on Strength, Season, and Self”
Born to Lead, Willing to Follow
From an early age, I found myself stepping into roles that required strength, vision, and a willingness to stand alone if needed. Whether it was advocating for those whose voices were ignored, or later creating spaces for independent artists and entertainers to shine—I never waited for someone to tell me what to do. I just knew there was a need, and I stepped in.
That’s leadership
But I’ve also learned the beauty of following.
When the wisdom of another inspires me, when a vision aligns with mine, or when my soul simply needs to rest—I can follow with trust and humility. I don’t need to lead all the time. Sometimes, true strength is knowing when to take a step back and support someone else’s light.
Leadership Looks Different at 65
Now, at this stage in my life, leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about being grounded, intentional, and discerning. I lead with experience. I lead with compassion. I lead by being fully myself—even when it’s hard.
I don’t need a title. I don’t need a crowd. My leadership shows up in how I move through life, how I support others, and how I stand in my truth.
And when I follow, I do so with open eyes and a willing heart, knowing I’ll still bring my wisdom along the way.
So yes—I’m a leader and a follower
And both roles have shaped the woman I am today.
