H&W|The Kindness That Carried Me Through: Gratitude for the Team That Tended to My Heart

Today, I went through a ECHO and stress test on my heart— one that took several hours, from check-in to the final images. It was long, physically draining, and emotionally layered… but what stood out the most was not the medical process — it was the kindness.

From the moment I arrived, I was treated with genuine care and warmth.

The receptionist greeted me with a smile and patience, setting the tone for the day. The assistants and techs explained every step clearly, never rushing or minimizing my feelings. And when I shared that my veins were small and liked to move, they listened — they applied warm packs, took their time, and got it right the first time.

Even when I was tired, hungry, and just ready to be done, they checked in with kindness — not just checking vitals, but checking on me.

I told the team, “I’m claiming that my heart is fine.” And I held onto that belief. Later, when the results came through, my heart smiled — literally and figuratively.

I took a chance and asked ChatGPT to my report. I was able to get a quick response, and I believe it was accurate. My heart appears to have no issues. I will confirm at work tomorrow and will have an appointment with the cardiologist on Monday to officially go over the results and determine the next step.

Healing Begins with How We’re Treated

I truly believe the care we receive from medical professionals plays a huge role in how we heal. It’s more than just procedures and prescriptions — it’s the energy, the tone, the humanity we’re met with.

Kindness doesn’t just feel good — it creates a safe space for the body and mind to soften. To trust. To believe that healing is possible.

When a healthcare team treats you like you matter…

When they listen with patience and move with compassion…

It sets the tone. It lays a foundation for hope.

That’s what the Cardiovascular Team gave me.

They got the memo — and I felt it in every step.

And for that, I am simply… grateful.

For the care I received.

For the kindness that surrounded me.

For the strength in my body and the calm in my heart.

For another day to feel… and heal.

Today, I’m simply grateful.

Grateful for my heart.

Grateful for compassionate care.

Grateful that under less-than-comfortable circumstances, I was surrounded by goodness.

To every hand that guided me yesterday — thank you. You made a difference.
