Choosing Solitude, Honoring My Journey
(Calm Through the Chaos Series)
There’s a peace that comes with knowing your own company is enough.
For much of my life, I’ve been surrounded by people — friends, family, coworkers, artists, community members. I’ve poured into others, hosted, connected, encouraged. I’ve been the one who made time for coffee dates, phone calls, and drop-ins. And I’ve loved much of that chapter.
But right now, my life looks different.
Not because I’ve stopped caring about people — far from it — but because I’ve reached a place where solitude is where I breathe easiest.
It’s not about shutting anyone out. It’s about tuning in to what my body, mind, and spirit need in this moment. For me, that means fewer social obligations, less energy spent navigating the ebb and flow of other people’s emotions, and more time listening to my own.
There are good people who would love to connect more, and I want them to know it’s not personal. I see them. I appreciate them. But my season right now is one of restoration and recalibration — and that can’t be rushed.
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for yourself, and for others, is to honor the space you’re in.
So if you don’t see me out much, know that I’m here — quietly living, healing, and tending to the garden within. When the season shifts, I’ll know. Until then, I’m trusting this chapter, and respecting where I am right now in my life’s journey.
