Appreciating the Direction
I’m appreciating the direction my life is going right now.
So much comes down to setting my mindset through my intentions—and redirecting my thoughts when it comes to the things I will not react to.
Everything does not deserve my energy.
Everything does not require a response.
Sometimes protecting my peace means making the decision to keep moving forward.
Gratitude has always been at the forefront of my life. I regularly give thanks for my blessings—even the smallest ones. Because when you have lived long enough, you understand that those small blessings are often carrying you through the hardest seasons.
I finally have a direction for my hips, and that is huge.
Out of nowhere, a medical shift presented itself. Now there is significant movement toward a more mobile future—possibly even a future without hip pain.
After three years of living with a disability and limited mobility, I finally have some answers and a path forward.
Still, during those three years, I remained grateful. I learned to accept my life as it was without allowing my limitations to stop me from living.
I continued to write.
I continued to tell my stories.
I continued to leave pieces of myself behind.
Through my writing and storytelling, I have created my legacy. My words will live on. Maybe one day, my children—or someone who has not even discovered me yet—will read them.
As I write for today, hoping to be relatable or to inspire you, I also imagine my children reading my words in the future and proudly saying:
“That’s my mom.”
Life never stays the same. The road will turn, our bodies will change, and unexpected chapters will find us. But it helps when we learn to embrace the journey—and recognize the lessons being taught along the way.
I encourage you to find your own way to share your wisdom and knowledge with those coming behind you.
Write it down.
Tell the stories.
Share the lessons.
Let somebody benefit from what life has taught you.
Where are my Seasoned SoulZ and storytellers?
Learn to become comfortable sharing your story along the way. Your voice matters. Your experiences matter. And somebody coming behind you may need the wisdom that only you can give.
