Tuesday A Taste of Flava
Yes, It’s Tuesday… Not Saturday 🤣
I have a confession… I have not been at my best for several days.
Although I’m on a new pain medication, it takes a while to kick in. It helps me sit without pain, but walking? I still experience extreme pain.
Since the weekend, I’ve noticed I’m sleeping more. When I’m asleep, I don’t feel the pain. But when I wake up, I’m not necessarily feeling rested.
Sleep gives me a break. Waking up means dealing with my body all over again.
This morning, I felt discombobulated. I thought it was the weekend and I could relax… until my alarm went off to remind me I needed to get up and get ready for work.
Wait. What? It’s Tuesday?
Boy, I had to give myself a quick talking-to.
“Flava, pull yourself together.”
Then my work computer would not turn on.
Ugh. Ugh!
I tried everything I could think of before asking my daughter to come up to the tower and help me.
Luckily, when I think I’m running late, I’m usually still early. I’m the one who likes to be ready 30 minutes before clocking in. That little cushion came in handy today!
I was able to compile my morning Call Out information and get it posted for all the clinics and the staff’s morning huddle.
Phew. 😅
I rarely drink coffee these days. I know… such a surprise!
But today, I decided I needed a little oomph and a treat. So I made myself some coffee, settled into my chair, and finally felt like I could catch my breath.
Then Pops, my crow, perched himself on the wire directly across from my desk.
He is my quiet gift.
He looked right at me, and we acknowledged each other. No big production. Just Pops hanging out and me appreciating that he was there. 🐦⬛
Several other bird friends showed up, too. I find comfort in their presence. Watching them go about their morning gave me a moment to settle into mine.
My spirit calmed down, and I found my rhythm.
I forwarded my official accommodation letter to the appropriate person in HR and my supervisor. I also scheduled my appointment with the anesthesiologist.
Things I needed to handle were getting handled.
So, all in all, my day is turning around. I feel back on track.
The pain is still part of my day, but that scattered feeling I started with has eased. I can appreciate my coffee, my bird friends, and the fact that I got through that messy beginning.
How is your day going?
Sometimes, we need to just stop, breathe, drink some Cowboy Coffee, and regroup. 😉
Happy Tuesday.
Yes, it’s Tuesday… not Saturday! 🤣
