Evening A Taste of Flava 🌻
I set an intention to have a good day at work—and I did.
I approached my patient calls with care and professionalism without absorbing their situations into my spirit. I can care about people and help them without carrying everything they are going through.
I also didn’t dwell on the challenges of my own health and upcoming surgery. I stopped to acknowledge what is true right now: the process is still moving forward. Today, I allowed that to be enough.
Now, the birds outside my tower window? They were BUSY! 🤣
Crows, juncos, starlings, sparrows, and two visitors from the woodpecker family. There was so much fast-moving activity that getting pictures became a challenge. Even my grandcats were going crazy trying to keep up!
And Pretty Boy, my Steller’s jay, kept popping in and out when I was on patient calls. Everybody else could pose, but he apparently had other plans. 🤣
My body had its usual pain, so this evening I’m stretched out on my couch, relaxing by the window with my fan on low. We reached 75 degrees around 4 p.m. Even with the temperature dropping to 66, the air coming through my open window still feels good.
I’m glad it’s Friday. It feels good to have a break from work, patient calls, and having to follow a schedule.
But before I close tonight, I need to give thanks for that job.
Because of where I work, I have received exceptional care. I have doctors advocating for me and access to support and opportunities that being an employee has afforded me. I don’t take that for granted.
God truly blessed me with this job over three years ago, after my six years in Vegas and my return to Seattle. My solid background in the medical field opened doors for work, and I’m grateful for the one that led me here.
I work at a great place. Even on challenging days, that blessing deserves acknowledgment.
As I say good night, I encourage you to pause and give thanks for an important blessing in your own life. The challenges may still be there, but so are the things we can be grateful for.
Tonight, I’m making room for that gratitude. 🙏🏼
