Sunday’s A Taste of Flava 🌻
A Foggy Day, Homemade Soup, and a Little Love at My Door
It’s another foggy Sunday here in Seattle, and you know what? I embrace it.
There is something about a foggy day that makes me want to get comfortable, pull up my blanket, and just enjoy doing absolutely nothing. 😂
And today is one of those days.
I’m tired. For no particular reason that I can put my finger on. But you know what? I’m okay with that.
It hasn’t even been a full week since my hip replacement surgery. 😉
I think sometimes we forget that just because we’re feeling better doesn’t mean our bodies are finished healing.
And speaking of feeling better, I had the sweetest surprise today.
My BabyGirl Olivia dropped off flowers and homemade soup at my door. 🌸🍲
Girl, when I saw those flowers and that big jar of soup, my heart smiled.
But I do have one complaint. 😂
She didn’t ring the bell and come inside!
I really wish she had. I would have loved to visit with her. And I told her that next time, I want her to come in.
Let me tell you a little something about Olivia.
She is my sunshine at work.
From the moment we connected, there was just something special about her. And mind you, there are about 40 years between us!
But age has never been something I use to measure a friendship or connection.
I love this young woman. I have tremendous respect for her, and I genuinely enjoy her outlook on life.
She brings something special into my workday, and apparently, she knows how to bring a little sunshine into my tower too. 🌻
And it wasn’t just the flowers or the soup.
It was the thought of someone taking time out of their Sunday to think about me.
That means something.
Especially when you’re recovering from surgery and spending most of your time at home.
Now, don’t misunderstand me. 😂
I am thoroughly enjoying being away from work!
I’m enjoying not having to watch the clock, answer phones, or worry about what needs to get done next.
I’m enjoying having time that belongs to me.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate hearing from or seeing the people who bring joy into my life.
And Olivia is definitely one of those people.
As for my recovery, I’m walking stronger today. I’m noticing little improvements, and those little improvements mean a whole lot to me.
But I’ll admit something else.
I’ve spent most of today lying down. 😂
And I’m not feeling one bit guilty about it.
My body has been through surgery. It’s working hard even when I’m doing absolutely nothing.
So today, I’m giving it the rest it deserves.
Meanwhile, I’ve got the blinds almost closed because of the foggy weather, but apparently Musty and Ghini didn’t get the memo.
Those two grandcats are still finding ways to peek through the blinds to see what’s happening outside. 😂🐈
I swear, nothing gets past those two.
So here I am, in my tower, enjoying the fog, looking at my beautiful flowers, appreciating a homemade meal, and watching my furry little grandcats keeping an eye on the world outside.
Nothing extravagant.
Nothing exciting by anybody else’s standards.
But today is a good day.
And I have so much to give thanks for.
My healing is progressing. I have a comfortable place to rest. I have people in my life who genuinely care about me.
And I have the freedom to simply enjoy this season of my life without feeling like I need to be doing something every minute.
Sometimes our blessings don’t arrive with a lot of noise.
Sometimes they show up quietly, in a jar of homemade soup, a bouquet of flowers, or a thoughtful hi gesture from someone who loves us.
And sometimes the blessing is simply being able to rest.
So as you go through your Sunday, I hope you’ll take a moment to recognize the blessings in your own life.
They may not look like mine.
But I bet they’re there. 😉
