I had an interesting conversation with a co-worker about what I do for the creative community…
She has seen my work and asked if I get paid, and responded by saying “it’s a hobby, right?”
What could I say?
I’ve been thinking about this conversation with one of my nursing supervisors…and the thing is, I can’t be mad at what she said.
If you’re not getting paid, does that mean it’s a hobby?
There was a time when I did get paid by indie artists as an consultant and advisor. Those were good days. Since my move to Vegas, I feel so out of touch with what I once loved.
It’s interesting when you have conversations with professionals outside of the arts and entertainment industry, they will hear your story differently. I now believe that God set me up for these recent conversations. Another conversation took place with a high school friend. It feels so different to speak to those outside this industry.
So what do you say? Are you getting paid for your talents and skills?
If yes, are you getting paid your worth?
If no, how does that make you feel and what does that say about you situation(s)?
It’s something to think about…
I take this as a eye opening blessing.
