Mountains Into Molehills: Why Seasoned Souls Get It Done
This morning I faced three mountains of faxes stacked high on my desk. Paper after paper, name after name, it looked overwhelming at first glance. But I rolled up my sleeves, found my rhythm, and before noon those mountains were reduced to neat little molehills. By the afternoon, I only had three referrals left and the Fellows’ mail already covered.
I’ve noticed something over the years: while I can move through these piles with steady focus, many of the younger ones struggle. It’s not about being smarter or faster—it’s about experience and perspective.
🌟 Why I Get It Done
Experience teaches flow. After years of handling faxes, referrals, and patient details, I can recognize patterns quickly. My eyes know what they’re looking for before my mind even catches up. Prioritization comes naturally. I can sort what needs attention right away and what can wait. That ability saves time and energy. Calm in the chaos. I’ve learned not to let the sight of a mountain overwhelm me. I take it one paper at a time, knowing it will all get done. Pride in the work. For me, it’s not just a job—it’s about showing up with purpose. I want my desk to reflect order, care, and consistency. Seasoned perspective. With age comes patience and a wider lens. I know that every mountain, no matter how tall, can be climbed one step—or one fax—at a time.
🌻 The Value of Seasoned Souls
Younger staff are still finding their rhythm. They may get stuck in the weight of the pile, feeling overwhelmed before they even begin. But with time, they’ll build their own flow. That’s the beauty of having both energy and experience in a workplace: we can learn from each other.
Today I’m grateful for the gift of being a seasoned soul. Where others see mountains, I’ve learned to see opportunities to show grace, persistence, and pride in a job well done.
