Ghini and the Birds
I was sitting in the tower today minding my business when Ghini jumped up on the window ledge again.
Now let me explain something about Ghini.
He takes the bird situation very seriously.
From this tower window he can see the whole neighborhood — crows, seagulls, and those little sparrows that bounce around like popcorn.
The minute a bird lands in the tree, Ghini locks in.
Ears up.
Eyes wide.
Body still like a statue.
He thinks if he watches them long enough they might come closer.
Sometimes he even makes those little chattering sounds like he’s trying to talk to them.
Now I’ve been around long enough to understand how this works.
The birds stay outside.
The cats stay inside.
No bird has ever accidentally wandered through the window and introduced themselves.
But Ghini is young.
He still believes anything is possible.
So I let him have his moment.
He watches.
The birds fly.
And I supervise the whole operation from a comfortable distance.
Every tower needs security.
And right now…
Ghini is convinced he’s running bird patrol.
