What Is Your Fall Go-To? 🍂

As I was sitting in my tower trying to decide what topic I wanted to tackle today, my mind kept coming back to the changing weather.

Maybe it’s because Seattle is definitely letting us know that Fall has arrived. 🍂

And I started thinking about something simple:

What are our cooler-weather habits? What are the things we automatically reach for when the temperature starts dropping?

I think the older I get, the more I pay attention to the little things I do—and why I do them.

I love Fall.

I love watching the trees all around Seattle change colors. There is something about those reds, oranges, yellows and browns that makes the whole city feel different.

And coffee?

Listen. 😂

Coffee feels less like something I simply drink in the morning and more like my best friend. There’s just something different about wrapping your hands around a warm cup of coffee when it’s chilly outside.

Then come the fuzzy blankets.

I LOVE a fuzzy blanket. If I’m relaxing on the couch or getting comfortable in bed, give me something soft, warm and fuzzy and I’m happy.

And this morning I realized something else about myself.

I love hot soup for breakfast.

Yes. Breakfast. 😂

Who decided soup has to wait until lunch or dinner anyway? If it’s cold outside and I want something warm in my stomach at 8:00 in the morning, soup sounds pretty darn good to me.

Then, of course, the Fall wardrobe starts making its appearance.

The sweaters come out.
The thicker shirts come out.
And definitely the socks.

Because once my feet are cold, apparently the rest of me has decided we are ALL cold. 😂

I’ve already pulled out my electric blanket, and this morning I even turned on my little heater just long enough to take the chill out of the air.

And as I sat there, warm and comfortable, I realized these little things have become part of my Fall routine.

Nothing fancy.

Nothing planned.

Just little comforts I automatically return to when the seasons change.

And I bet you have some too.

Maybe it’s your favorite sweatshirt that has seen better days but nobody better suggest you throw it away.

Maybe it’s chili simmering on the stove.

Maybe you start baking.

Maybe you pull out candles with those cinnamon, apple and pumpkin smells.

Maybe you start watching certain movies or shows every year.

Or maybe, like me, you have that favorite blanket waiting for you when the day is done.

So now I’m curious…

What is YOUR Fall go-to?

What little habit, food, drink, piece of clothing or routine tells you:

Yep. Fall is here.

I think we all have something.

And sometimes it’s these simple little comforts that make a season feel like our season. 🍂☕️
