Friday A Taste of Flava: Watching the Day Unfold

Working from home feels a little like waking up in the dark. I don’t have to physically go into work, but it still feels like a full start to a new day. I settle in at my desk while it’s still dark outside, with a few neighborhood lights and shadows showing through the window. I can hear the crows in the distance.

Then daylight starts to creep in. I never know what the sky is going to look like—and I don’t think she knows either. She shifts so frequently, changing her look before she has a chance to settle into one.

I love the cool air. Yes, I have the window cracked and my electric blanket over my lap. I know it makes no sense. I love the fresh, cool air, but I also want my arthritic hips to stay comfortable.

As I’m writing this, the sky is already shifting again, and the crows are flying overhead. Some of my neighbors are heading out for the day. There’s a little more movement now, and I can hear the neighborhood beginning to wake up.

But it’s peaceful. And I embrace peaceful.

This has been a challenging, productive week. I’ve had medical and work-related documents to handle, all while preparing for my upcoming surgery. So this Friday, I’m going to breathe, sit by my tower window, and watch how the day unfolds.
