Evening Taste of Flava-Painful Weekend but Getting Ready for Surgery

Sunday Evening A Taste of Flava

This weekend was a hard one with pain. I don’t like taking medication, so I spent time resting, sleeping off and on, and listening to an audiobook. I believe the change in weather and more moisture in the air may have played a part in how achy I felt.

I kept reminding myself that I’m getting closer and closer to my surgery date. That thought helps me through these hard days.

Yesterday, I ordered groceries—healthy things with some flava that I can prepare on my own in my makeshift kitchen area. I also bought a few more small electric cooking options and supplies to make things easier.

I feel good about how I’m preparing my tower for recovery after surgery. I’m thinking through what I’ll need, what I can manage myself, and how to keep things within reach.

I’m looking forward to experiencing a different kind of pain on my right side—the pain of recovery, with the hope of better movement as I heal. Being able to get out and about when I choose means so much to me.

Recovery pain feels different in my mind because there is healing to work toward. Chronic pain has been an exhausting everyday companion.

Now, I know it sounds like I rested all weekend, but let me tell you… putting away four full bags of groceries took effort! So did unpacking my Amazon boxes and figuring out where everything belonged.

Once upon a time, I would never have thought to mention simple tasks like these. But hey, today they count as accomplishments! 🤣 And I’m giving myself credit.

I hope you had a great weekend. Let’s enter this new week with a positive attitude—and give ourselves credit for what we manage along the way. 😉
