ATasteOfFlava| It’s A Rainy Friday 🌧️

Friday’s A Taste of Flava

Today I woke up feeling rested. It is pouring down rain, but I embrace it. I find peace in hearing her rhythm hit my roof and windows.

When I was younger, I used to love going for a walk in the rain. And when I returned to Seattle, I honestly enjoyed walking to and from the bus stop in all kinds of weather, including the rain. Seattle’s air is so refreshing.

This weekend, I’m going to relax and not push too much. Of course, I’ll continue my home physical therapy exercises and make sure I get up and walk. But I’m giving myself time to heal.

I believe my recovery from my right total hip replacement will go well. The recovery pain is already more manageable than the pain I was living with before surgery, and I’m grateful for that.

I’m beginning to picture doing the simple things that have been so hard for me. Mostly chores. 🤣 Who looks forward to doing chores?

Apparently, I do.

I’m independent, and I like my space to be a certain way. When something needs to be moved or straightened, I want to be able to get up and do it. Soon, as I heal, I’ll be able to work toward getting my space set up how I really want it.

Then there are the stairs. Being able to go outside. Maybe going to the store or just getting out for an hour or two. Simple things, but they mean something when they haven’t been easy.

So many times, we take things for granted until they’re taken away.

But as I’ve said before, I love the life I’ve created in my tower. It’s my haven. A space I really call my own. I haven’t felt like I was missing out on life as a disabled person in her tower. I’ve still had joy, purpose, and things to look forward to.

I believe in being grateful for the blessings in my life. The challenges are there—I live with them—but I don’t want them to be all I see.

So today, I’ll enjoy the rain. I’ll enjoy the peace and calm I feel in my space and in my spirit. And I’ll let myself smile about the things I’m looking forward to doing again.

Even the chores. 🤣

It’s the weekend, and I wish you a fabulous weekend ahead.
