What Does Freedom Mean to You?
When I sit with the question, “What does freedom mean to you?” my first thought is that freedom is more than the absence of rules or limitations — it’s the presence of peace.
Freedom, for me, is the ability to live authentically. To walk into a room without needing to mask who I am. To speak truthfully, with kindness and clarity, without fear of judgment or retaliation.
It is also deeply connected to health and well-being. Freedom is not just about what I can do — it’s about being able to breathe without pain, to move with ease, and to trust my body to carry me through the day. Chronic illness and stress have shown me how precious this kind of freedom is.
Freedom also means choice. The choice to spend my time in ways that align with my values. The choice to love openly, to create boldly, and to honor both my roots and the journey I am still on.
And perhaps most importantly, freedom is found in my spirit. It is knowing that no matter what is happening around me — in the workplace, in relationships, in society — I can return to my center. To my faith. To my peace.
So what does freedom mean to me?
It means authenticity.
It means choice.
It means peace.
And it means never forgetting that even in chaos, my soul can still be free.
