Blog Challenge|I Would Give Up “Okay”

If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?

🌻 Giving Up a Word? 🌻

When I first read this prompt, I laughed to myself. Words are my world. I write, I process, I share — and words are at the heart of it all. To ask me to give one up feels almost impossible.

But if I had to choose, I might let go of a word that I overuse. Sometimes, without realizing it, we lean on certain words too much. They become fillers instead of meaning-makers.

For me, I think that word might be “okay.”

I use it often — at work, at home, in writing. “Okay” has become a quick answer, a placeholder, a way to move along. But truthfully, sometimes I’m more than “okay.” Sometimes I’m excited, joyful, proud, or even tired, drained, or frustrated. By dropping “okay,” I could challenge myself to describe how I really feel.

Instead of “Okay,” I could say:

When I’m doing well: “I’m good,” “I’m at peace,” “I’m grateful,” “I’m blessed.” When I’m steady: “I’m managing,” “I’m holding it together,” “I’m present.” When I’m worn down: “I’m tired,” “I’m pushing through,” “I’m processing.” When I’m inspired: “I’m shining,” “I’m creative,” “I’m in my flow.”

Each one tells the truth in a way “okay” never really does.

Language is powerful. Every word carries weight. Maybe the gift of this prompt isn’t about truly giving up a word, but about noticing the ones I lean on too heavily and choosing words that reflect my truth more fully.

So, what word would you give up?
