You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

Embracing the Blessings: My Process of Receiving Good News

There’s something special about receiving great news—those moments when life surprises you with an unexpected blessing, an opportunity, or a breakthrough you’ve been working toward. Over the years, I’ve developed a personal ritual for how I embrace and process these moments, and it always begins with gratitude.

Starting with Gratitude

The first thing I do is stop and give thanks to God. Before sharing my excitement with anyone, I take a moment to be still, to reflect, and to truly feel the weight of the blessing. It’s in these quiet moments that I recognize how much I am loved, guided, and supported. Gratitude fills my heart, and I let it settle in before moving forward.

Sharing the Joy

After my private moment of thanks, I begin to share—starting with those closest to me. My family, My Peace, and sometimes a few trusted co-workers are the first to hear about the good news. I share not just the details of what happened, but also my feelings—why it matters, how it aligns with my journey, and the emotions that come with it.

There’s something powerful about letting people in on your joy, about celebrating life’s wins together. Whether big or small, these moments remind me that we aren’t meant to walk this path alone.

The Power of Selective Sharing

But not all news is meant to be shared with everyone. There are times when I keep things to myself, letting them marinate in my spirit before deciding who should be part of that moment. Over time, I’ve learned the value of discernment—of recognizing who truly celebrates with me versus who simply listens out of curiosity.

And of course, My Peace is always my trusted person. The one I can confide in without hesitation, knowing that my joy will be met with genuine happiness and encouragement.

Living in the Blessing

At the end of the day, it’s not just about receiving good news—it’s about honoring it, being grateful, and allowing it to inspire me to keep moving forward. Every blessing is a reminder that I am on the right path, and for that, I will always be thankful.

How do you process good news? Do you take time to sit with it, or do you share it right away?

Let’s talk about it.
