When Familiar Spaces Feel Foreign
By Lady Flava

There’s something unsettling about walking into a place that used to feel comfortable—familiar—and realizing it no longer feels the same. Sometimes it’s a shift in energy, a change in roles, or just a quiet sense that things aren’t what they once were.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little out of step with my surroundings.
Where I once felt deeply connected and part of something steady, I now feel… uncertain. Detached, maybe. Like I’m standing on the outside of something I used to be at the heart of.

People say, “Just be patient. It will pass.”
And maybe it will.

But in the meantime, I’m learning how to navigate this unfamiliar version of a once-familiar space. I’m trying to stay grounded, to lead with grace—even when it feels easier to retreat. I remind myself that one kind exchange, even a simple “Good Morning,” can be a step forward.

Change can make us feel like strangers in places we once called home.
But it doesn’t take away who we are or the good we’ve brought into those spaces.
So I’ll keep showing up—with quiet strength and a hopeful heart.

Because even when things feel foreign, I still believe in the power of small beginnings.
