How to Reset After Sleeping the Day Away
Okay, so this may have happened to me today… I woke up and it was 2:31 PM. 😳 Yes, you read that right. My body clearly decided it needed a full reset, and I slept right through most of the day. And you know what? I’m okay with this.
For the past three months, I’ve been carrying a major stressor at work. It has weighed heavily on me, and I’ve done my best to navigate the challenges while holding on to my peace. Now it feels like everything is about to come to a head and be resolved. Maybe that’s why my body finally said: you can really rest now.
The truth is, sometimes our bodies know what we need better than we do. Instead of guilt, I’m choosing to lean into self-care—and share a few gentle tips for anyone else who might find themselves in this same situation.
🌙 Gentle Reset After an Epic Nap
Hydrate First 💧 Start with a glass of cool water to rehydrate your system and ease puffiness.
Facial Refresh 🌸 A cool washcloth, chilled spoon under the eyes, or a gentle massage around your temples and jaw can wake your face up after hours of deep sleep (especially if you’re a stomach sleeper like me).
Stretch & Open Up 🧘♀️ Reach your arms overhead, breathe deep, and do a slow side-to-side twist. Your body will thank you for a little movement.
Light Movement 🚶♀️ Take a short walk around your home or outside. A few minutes of fresh air or sunshine helps shake off the groggy fog.
Nourish Your Body 🥗 Choose something light but energizing—fruit, yogurt, soup, or salad. Nothing too heavy right away.
Gentle Grounding 🌻 Step outside, breathe in the air, and let nature recalibrate your rhythm.
Sometimes sleeping the day away is exactly what your mind and body need. So if this happens to you, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, take the steps to gently reset and carry on with your day.
Because rest is healing, and there’s nothing wrong with listening when your body says slow down. 💖
