Reading People and Their Energies

One thing I’ve learned over time is that not everyone walks into a room the same way. Some bring light, some bring heaviness, some carry focus, and some drift without direction. I’ve come to realize that I have a gift for noticing these things — for reading people and their energies.

For me, this gift comes from being an Empath. It’s not something I force or chase; it’s natural. Not everyone has this ability, and that’s okay. But for me, paying attention is as natural as breathing.

Being an Empath means I can feel when energy is off in a business — so much so that I’ve had to leave because the heaviness was unbearable. I’ve even felt energy in objects, like wood furniture at Goodwill, and walked away because something in me said no.

It’s also about people. I study faces, body language, tone of voice, clothing choices, and movement. I pay attention so deeply that sometimes people think I’m staring, or they misread my focus as being upset. The truth is, I’m reading. I’m feeling. I’m taking in more than the surface.

I see the difference between someone who is present and engaged, and someone who is simply going through the motions. I notice when someone’s spark is dimmed, even if they’re still smiling on the surface. And I recognize when someone’s energy uplifts the room — like the rare souls whose empathy shines so bright, it touches everyone around them.

Being able to read people isn’t about judgment. It’s about compassion. It’s about knowing there’s always more than what we see. And for me, it’s about honoring what I feel and using it as a guide for how I respond — whether I lean in with empathy, step back with boundaries, or put on my sunflower blinders to protect my own peace. 🌻
