A Nation Divided, A Life Lost

When I heard the news about Charlie Kirk being murdered, my heart sank. I’ll be honest — I didn’t know much about him, what he stood for, or the organization he built. But I do know this: no one deserves to be murdered for their opinion.

I heard that his wife and daughter were present when it happened, and that is a heartbreak I can hardly imagine. A family shattered in an instant. A community shaken. And a country reminded once again of just how divided we have become.

Taking someone’s life does not prove a point. It does not silence an idea. It only adds to the destruction of a nation already torn apart.

We live in a time where loud voices rise up and often drown out truth. Opinions are shared as facts, and influence can come from those who speak the strongest, not necessarily those who speak with wisdom. It’s hard to know what is real anymore, or what the true moral rights and wrongs are.

What I do know is that violence is never the answer. Violence distorts, destroys, and deepens the wounds of division.

Today, I don’t write as someone who followed Charlie Kirk or agreed with his beliefs. I write as a human being who is sad that this happened. I write as someone who longs for a country where differences can be debated without bloodshed, where families don’t have to lose their loved ones to senseless acts of hate.

We are a divided nation, but we don’t have to be a broken one.
