“When an Off Week Ends Softly”
Simply Flava • By Lady Flava
This week had me off balance, and I’m not too proud to admit that.
Nothing dramatic… just that quiet heaviness that sits with you for a few days and throws your rhythm off. Family tension, mixed energy at work, Thanksgiving around the corner — it all stacked up, and my spirit felt it.
By last night, I knew I had to shift something in myself.
So this morning, before I even stepped into the hospital, I prayed. Not a long prayer… just a simple one:
“Soften my heart. Let me move light today. Help me not carry yesterday into today.”
I walked in with that intention leading me.
Sunflower blinders up.
Leopard headphones on.
Protecting my energy the way a grown woman with some miles on her spirit knows she has to.
And you know what?
My day turned out better than anything I could’ve scripted.
The energy around me was calm.
The work flowed.
Conversations were easy.
I even had company that made the hours softer — someone who moved with intention, cleaned the space, and carried a vibe that didn’t drain me.
I didn’t realize how much I needed that.
It wasn’t a perfect day.
But it was a good day.
A steady day.
The kind that reminds you that even when a week feels off, it doesn’t have to end the same way it started.
Today reminded me that grace can meet you anywhere…
Sometimes all it takes is setting the tone for yourself — choosing how you want to show up, even when you don’t feel your best. And even at a desk full of papers and a week full of heaviness.
And I’m ending this Wednesday grateful, grounded, and a little softer than I woke up.
