🕸️ The Web of Deception

Have you ever had one of those moments where you just wish it never happened—or that it would just hurry up and be over?

That’s often how it feels when you’ve encountered a narcissist up close. They are master designers of deception, weaving a sticky web of lies and confusion. At first, it looks harmless—even alluring. You may even find yourself leaning in, intrigued by their charm, their charisma, the way they tell stories with animation that draws you in.

But be careful of the sting.

At first, it’s light—so subtle you almost dismiss it. Then, gradually, the hold tightens. Before you know it, the web is around you, and the sting begins to paralyze. I know, because I’ve been there. I almost got caught up in the web myself—until I realized I had to pull, and pull hard, before I lost sight of who I was.

Narcissists know how to use presence as a lure: a look, a smell, a smile, a wink, a sound. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes it’s “Bam, in your face!” Either way, it captivates. They quickly learn as much as they can about you, then sting. At first, they come as a friend. But soon, you either become an ally in their world—or the target of their gossip, lies, and calculated deception.

For some, it’s a lustful draw. For others, it’s the charisma of the spider itself. Either way, the result is the same: a dangerous entanglement.

Yet, here’s the blessing in disguise—once you’ve met a King or Queen of the Web of Deception, and you learn to recognize the signs, it becomes one of the most valuable life lessons. You don’t have to get stung twice.

If something feels a little webby, pause. Step back. Protect your spirit. The greatest strength isn’t in fighting the spider—it’s in refusing to be caught.
