đ¸ď¸ The Web of Deception
Have you ever had one of those moments where you just wish it never happenedâor that it would just hurry up and be over?
Thatâs often how it feels when youâve encountered a narcissist up close. They are master designers of deception, weaving a sticky web of lies and confusion. At first, it looks harmlessâeven alluring. You may even find yourself leaning in, intrigued by their charm, their charisma, the way they tell stories with animation that draws you in.
But be careful of the sting.
At first, itâs lightâso subtle you almost dismiss it. Then, gradually, the hold tightens. Before you know it, the web is around you, and the sting begins to paralyze. I know, because Iâve been there. I almost got caught up in the web myselfâuntil I realized I had to pull, and pull hard, before I lost sight of who I was.
Narcissists know how to use presence as a lure: a look, a smell, a smile, a wink, a sound. Sometimes itâs subtle, sometimes itâs âBam, in your face!â Either way, it captivates. They quickly learn as much as they can about you, then sting. At first, they come as a friend. But soon, you either become an ally in their worldâor the target of their gossip, lies, and calculated deception.
For some, itâs a lustful draw. For others, itâs the charisma of the spider itself. Either way, the result is the same: a dangerous entanglement.
Yet, hereâs the blessing in disguiseâonce youâve met a King or Queen of the Web of Deception, and you learn to recognize the signs, it becomes one of the most valuable life lessons. You donât have to get stung twice.
If something feels a little webby, pause. Step back. Protect your spirit. The greatest strength isnât in fighting the spiderâitâs in refusing to be caught.
