When a Light Grows Dim
It’s a tender thing to witness — when someone you once knew as bright, joyful, and full of life becomes a shadow of themselves. I’ve seen it happen. A young person with a spark, who loved to share little joys and made people smile, suddenly shifting into someone withdrawn and heavy.
What caused the change?
Sometimes it’s not life itself, but the influence of a person who knows how to charm their way into someone’s spirit — a manipulative narcissist who weaves lies, confuses trust, and plants seeds of doubt about the people who actually care. They dim the light of others because they thrive in control.
And when that manipulator is gone, the damage often lingers. The person left behind is stuck in a fog, unsure of who or what to believe, carrying mistrust that was never really theirs to hold. The sparkle in their eyes fades, and the joy they once brought into the world feels like a distant memory.
I fear for those who lose themselves this way. Not because they aren’t strong, but because sometimes the lies feel louder than the truth. And until they can find their way back — to trust, to connection, to themselves — they remain dimmed.

But here’s what I believe: light is never fully gone. Even when it’s dimmed, it still exists within. Sometimes it just needs patience, compassion, and distance from the shadows to shine again. 🌻
