🌻 Seasoned Soul Moment

A Bath, A Lesson in Strength

This was only my second bath since the onset of radiculopathy and hip arthritis. The first time, my daughter helped me out. This time, I prepared myself—safety bars in place, a dry towel ready, even with my buddy nearby if I needed to call.

I only filled the water to the tops of my toes, but it felt amazing just sitting there, washing up, and letting myself soak for a while. I don’t know how long I stayed, but eventually anxiety set in: how am I going to get out?

I drained the water, thought through my options, and decided on a plan. I placed the towel where I could turn onto my knees, gripped two safety bars, and pushed myself up. It worked.

The moral of the story is simple: I need to get stronger to safely take a bath.

Now that I’m dressed, I feel refreshed and relaxed. The crust of sickness is washed away from my face. I don’t feel totally better, but I do feel clean. And sometimes, that’s enough. 🌻
