“The Energy We Carry Over the Phone”

Today a patient called me Sunshine. 🌞 It made me pause, because they didn’t see me — they only heard me. Yet somehow, through the phone, they felt my energy.

We sometimes forget that words are more than words. A rushed tone, a sigh, a smile you wear while talking — they all travel through the line. Patients, coworkers, even strangers can pick up on what we carry in our voice.

What I’ve learned is this:

A calm voice can ease chaos. A kind tone can soften someone’s stress. And yes — a smile can be heard.

It’s a reminder that we all have a choice in what we project. The energy we bring matters, whether face-to-face or voice-to-voice.

So today, being called Sunshine wasn’t just a compliment. It was proof that the light we choose to carry will always shine through.
