🌻 End-of-Year Reflections: Finding Calm in the Noise
Simply Flava
As this year comes to a close, I can feel the tension rising — not just around the country, but in people individually. There’s something about the end of the year that makes us take stock of where we are — at work, with our health, or in our personal goals. Many of us start plotting new resolutions or revisiting the ones we let slip away.
And yet, this year feels heavier. With the political climate shaking people’s sense of security — especially under the chaos of the Trump era and its targeted divisions — there’s an undeniable anxiety building across communities. The unknown has a way of stirring people’s nerves.
Maybe this happens every year as December creeps closer. But this time, it feels different — like we have more at stake.
That’s why I lean into self-care. It’s something I try to practice daily, not just talk about. I process through writing — pouring thoughts onto the page until they start to make sense — and I talk things through with my online therapist, Jessica. She helps me untangle what I feel, especially when I can’t quite name it.
Do you feel anxious this time of year?
If so, I hope you’ve found ways to cope. What helps you? Maybe we can build a little online space here to share tips — breathing techniques, journaling habits, calming playlists — anything that keeps the weight from settling too deep.
As for me, I write. Every day. Sometimes it’s structured, sometimes it’s just raw emotion. I sit by my tower window, watching the fall sky shift, listening to birds cut across the air. Music plays softly — whatever fits my mood — and for that moment, I feel peace.
I’d love to connect with you.
How are you really doing as this year winds down?
What’s helping you stay centered when the world feels uncertain?
