“The Wait You Don’t See”

I hear it every day.

“Why haven’t I gotten a call back yet?”

“Why is this taking so long?”

“I just need an answer.”

And I understand.

When it’s your health, your pain, your worry…

waiting feels heavy.

You want answers right away.

You want clarity right away.

You want someone to call you back right away.

💭 But here’s the part most people don’t see

The doctors you’re waiting on?

They’re not sitting at a desk all day.

They’re in surgery.

They’re in procedures.

They’re responding to emergencies that didn’t exist an hour ago.

They’re moving from one patient to the next…

doing work that requires full focus, full presence, and sometimes, immediate action.

⏳ There is a process behind every answer

After a visit or a procedure:

Notes have to be completed Information has to be reviewed Orders have to be signed Details have to be accurate

Doctors are often given up to 48 hours to complete and sign their chart notes.

Not because they don’t care…

But because they are actively caring for patients in real time.

🚧 What can cause delays?

It’s not just “someone didn’t respond.”

It can be:

Emergency surgeries added to the schedule

Complications during procedures

Time spent with patients who need more care than expected

Coordinating with multiple teams

Healthcare doesn’t always run on a predictable timeline.

It runs on priority and need in the moment.

💯 What I want you to know

When you don’t hear back right away…

It does not mean:

you’ve been forgotten

you’re not important

your concern doesn’t matter

It means there is movement happening behind the scenes that you can’t see.
