Wednesday 9am Tower Window moments with Lady Flava

Tower Window moments with Lady Flava

There is something about my mornings at the tower window that has become part of my peace.

I can be sitting here working, drinking my coffee, checking the weather, thinking about my body, thinking about life… and then suddenly somebody from the neighborhood wildlife committee shows up. 🤣

This morning started with blue skies, sunshine and that beautiful Seattle morning light.

Then came the birds.

Singer was back, sitting high in the cedar and giving me:

Chirp.
Chirp chirp chirp.
Chirp.

I have been trying to figure out exactly what kind of bird Singer is, and that little tail pointing up keeps giving me clues.

Then the hummingbird showed up.

Now let me tell you, she was not trying to make picture taking easy. 😂

She was flying all around the cedar while I was trying to keep up with her. I would see her, move my camera, and she was already somewhere else.

But I finally caught her.

She is not one of those bright, colorful hummingbirds I remember seeing in Las Vegas. This little lady is more of a soft tan color. Quiet coloring, tiny body, long little beak… and FAST.

Then came the starlings, little birds sitting on the wires, birds tucked into the branches, and everybody taking their turn using the cedar like it was neighborhood headquarters.

I even saw a crow and Chip this morning.

Did I get the picture?

Of course not. 🤣

Apparently they did not sign their photography consent forms today.

And somewhere in between all of that, the bright blue sky turned completely gray.

That is Seattle for you.

But these are the moments I love.

They are simple.

I am not traveling anywhere.

I am not doing anything spectacular.

I am sitting at my window watching life happen right outside of it.

Some mornings I see Chip running across the wires.

Some mornings the crows stop by.

Some mornings the little birds gather together.

And every once in a while, I get lucky enough to catch a hummingbird.

I think we sometimes believe peace has to come from getting away from everything.

Maybe sometimes it does.

But sometimes peace is sitting exactly where you are long enough to notice what has been there all along.

This morning, my tower window gave me another reminder:

There is always something happening around us.

We just have to slow down enough to see it.
