“Unique” means being the only one of its kind, or being without equal or like;unparalleled, or unusual or special in some way

What Makes a Person Unique?

When I built Flava Coffee House, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. I had a vision. So I had the sign designed with this saying:
“Flava is a Taste, a Style, a Feeling…What’s Your Flava?”

Flava is a descriptive Ebonic word that I absolutely fell in love with. It spoke to identity, to energy, to individuality. And in a community as diverse as mine—where few businesses reflected the rich cultural blend of the neighborhood I called home—I knew Flava had to be different. It had to feel like us.

I created Flava as a space for creatives, for people of all walks of life. A place where both the young and the seasoned could come together, share stories, celebrate artistry, and just be. The concept and design were intentionally unique—but what truly brought it to life were the people. Each person who walked through the doors carried their own flavor, their own story, their own vibe.

So what makes a person unique?

It could be…

• The way they dress
• Their outer appearance
• The sound of their voice
• The verbiage they use when they speak
• Their ethnic or cultural mix
• Their taste in music
• The books they choose to read
• How they decorate their space
• What they like to eat and drink
• Where they spend their time

The list goes on and on. It’s these small, personal choices and quirks that give someone their unique flavor. No two people bring the same ingredients to the table—and that’s what makes life so rich and beautiful.

I deeply respect those who live with their own Flava. I love when someone stays true to what makes sense to them—even if that evolves over time. Being unique isn’t about standing out for the sake of attention. It’s about standing firm in who you are and allowing that authenticity to shine through in everything you do.

So I ask you, just like I asked everyone who would entered my space or presence;
