Today, as I sat in the parking lot, I watched students walk out of their UNCF College Prep class. Backpacks on their shoulders, laughter in the air, the weight of their future carried with such quiet determination.

I call it what it is: Black Excellence.

I’m so proud that my granddaughter K has been part of this program for the past two years. It’s more than just classes — it’s preparation, community, and vision. It’s a space where young people are seen for their brilliance and given tools to shine even brighter.

As a grandma, my heart swells knowing she walks among them. She belongs to a future full of possibility, resilience, and strength.
