**A Sip of Flava

Learning From the Young Ones**

I know I complain at times about the young kids at work…It’s a generational thing for this old Nanny Flava 😁

And sometimes… yes, I shake my head.

But here’s the part people don’t always hear me say out loud —

I actually like them.

They’re fun.

They bring a different energy into the room.

And when my body is struggling, they don’t hesitate — they step in, help me, grab things for me, switch spots, or just quietly look out for me without making a big deal about it.

They like me me too 😁

And I feel that.

They introduce me to indie music I’ve never heard of — songs I’d never search for on my own, but end up loving.

They teach me slang that makes absolutely no sense 😁

And they laugh when I try to use it… which honestly makes it even better.

They make Starbucks runs without being asked.

They check on me.

They notice when I’m hurting.

Their life perspective is different — shaped by a world I didn’t grow up in — but that doesn’t make it wrong. Just different. And sometimes refreshing.

Yes, I come from an old-school era.

Yes, I value structure, systems, and leadership.

But I also value connection.

And these young coworkers remind me that kindness, care, and community don’t belong to just one generation.

We’re learning from each other — even when we don’t realize it.

And that?

That’s something worth sipping on.
