A Sip of Flava
Listening Instead of Pushing
Today didn’t start with coffee.
And that alone tells me everything I need to know.
Usually, coffee is my go-to.
My comfort. My rhythm. My let’s get moving signal.
But this morning, my body said, “Not today.”
No drama. No negotiation. Just a clear, steady no.
So I listened.
There’s pressure in my face.
An ache in my bones.
A tiredness that sleep didn’t quite fix.
And instead of powering through like I’ve done a hundred times before, I paused.
Mind.
Body.
Spirit.
All three asked for the same thing—gentle.
No coffee today.
Maybe tea later.
Right now, my drink of choice is hot water.
Simple. Warm. Quiet.
Nothing extra. Nothing demanding anything from me.
There’s a lesson in that.
Sometimes self-care isn’t a grand gesture.
It’s not a workout, a plan, or a push forward.
Sometimes it’s choosing the thing that soothes instead of stimulates.
Listening instead of overriding.
Today, rest is the sip.
Awareness is the flavor.
And honoring what I feel is enough.
