Friday — A Taste of Flava 🌻
I woke up this morning with a heavy heart, realizing that I need to realign how I use a tool that has become very valuable to me.
You know, I’m old 😂 and when I get used to a system, a rhythm, a certain way of doing things, it can be hard for me to adjust.
But as life would have it, I am continually adjusting.
So why should this be any different?
I came to my tower window early this morning and just sat here in amazement watching the birds.
They have become my solace.
My morning peace.
The young starlings and the finches or sparrows 😂 — maybe both — were busy gathering everywhere. They were hitting the tree, lining the power lines and power poles, diving off my rooftop and flying right back up again.
At one point they were flying within inches of my window.
I wish I could have gotten a picture of that to show you because it was something to see.
And somewhere in the middle of watching all of that activity, I felt myself settle.
Sometimes we carry things that feel heavy.
Sometimes something shifts and we realize we have to adjust our thinking, our expectations, or simply how we move forward.
That doesn’t mean we have to carry the heaviness with us all day.
It’s the end of my work week and YES…
TGIF! 😂🎉
Find the thing that calms you when you’re carrying something heavy.
Sit with it.
Breathe.
Watch the birds.
Listen to music.
Step outside.
Pray.
Laugh.
Whatever brings you back to yourself.
And then, little by little, learn to let some of that heaviness go.
For me, this morning, it was the view from my tower window.
Happy Friday!
