Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.

The Value of Weekends: A Simple Plan That Brings Me Joy

Thinking about the simple things that bring joy to my life, one direction stands out clearly—my weekends.

Like many, I catch myself saying, “TGIF” every Friday. But for me, the weekend isn’t just a break from work—it’s my time. Two whole days where I get to decide what I do and when I do it. And honestly, that freedom brings me peace in the deepest way.

What does that look like?

  • Maybe I sleep in
  • Maybe I stay up all night listening to an audiobook
  • One simple thing that brings joy to my life is taking a few quiet moments in the morning with a cup of coffee or matcha tea.
  • Sometimes I’ll reflect, pray, or simply stare out the window and watch the light change. It’s a small ritual, but in that stillness, I find peace, gratitude, and grounding.
  • Do a little light exercise
  • Head to the pool to do some therapy work
  • Go thrifting
  • Spend time near the water
  • Enjoy time with My Peace
  • Breathe and simply go with the flow

Weekends are when I feel most free and least responsible for anyone but myself.

I’ve fully embraced Me Time—and I’ve let go of any pressure to be productive for others. The simplicity of choosing what brings me joy, moment by moment, is what makes my weekends feel sacred.

Now, sure, I may have listed several activities—but to me, they’re all part of one thing: intentional, peaceful moments in time.

The value of weekends. A simple plan. Me Time.
This is what brings me joy.
