The Power of Simple Check-Ins
It was one of those days—where the weight of the week still clung to my shoulders. Tired, achy, emotionally stretched. And yet, in the middle of all that… two small, beautiful moments reminded me why I do what I do.
The first came unexpectedly. A patient’s husband came over after I had gotten someone from the doctor’s team to speak with them—without an appointment. He looked me in the eye and said:
“Every time we come here, you are so kind and helpful. Thank you.”
Just those words… so simple, yet they reached me deeply. I was reminded that kindness doesn’t go unnoticed—even when it feels like you’re running on empty.
Then, later that same day, a nurse sent me a private message:
“I missed your Friday meme post! I look forward to what you send in the Teams Chat.”
That little message? It gave me a smile that lasted the rest of my shift. Just knowing someone sees that small effort I make to lift the mood of the clinic—it mattered.
These Moments Are Check-Ins, Too
We often think a check-in has to be a long conversation or a big gesture, but sometimes it’s simply:
- A few kind words from someone who sees your effort
- A message that says, “You matter here.”
- A smile that reflects something beautiful back to you
These moments are like soul taps—reminders that you’re not invisible, that your presence is felt, that your energy touches others.
Closing Thoughts
On the days when it feels like you’re just going through the motions…
On the days when your heart is tired, and the world feels heavy…
Be open to the light that peeks through in the smallest ways.
And if someone comes to mind—reach out. Whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a coworker—your check-in might be the unexpected healing they didn’t know they needed.

We are blessed to be a blessing, remember that. 🙏
