Disclaimer: This blog is simply my opinion. It comes from living through several different eras, raising a family, building businesses, working with people from all walks of life, and experiencing many changes over my 66 years. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me, and that’s okay. My hope is simply to get us thinking and talking with respect.
Monday Real Talk
Sometimes I wonder if life has always felt this noisy, or if I’m just old enough now to notice it more.
No era has ever been perfect. Every generation has had its struggles, heartbreaks, and moments in history that changed the course of people’s lives. I know that.
But this era feels different to me.
We have more information than ever before, yet somehow many of us seem more confused than ever. We have thousands of voices telling us what to believe, how to think, what to accept, what to reject, and who we should be. Technology and social media have opened doors that I never imagined possible. There is so much good that has come from it. There is also a lot of noise.
Sometimes it feels like everyone is talking, but very few people are truly listening.
I look around and wonder… where did our sense of unity go? Where did simple conversations go? Where did the ability to disagree without becoming enemies go?
I see parents trying to keep up while juggling so much. I see young people growing up in a world that never seems to slow down. I see mental health struggles becoming part of everyday conversations. I see people searching for peace while living in a world that rarely feels peaceful.
Maybe that’s why health and wellness have become so important to me.
Not just our physical health, but our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being too.
I believe we all need something that helps us stay grounded because the world keeps changing. Trends change. Opinions change. Technology changes. The way we communicate changes.
Sometimes it feels like if you don’t keep up, you’re left behind. If you ask questions, someone gets offended. If you have a different opinion, you’re expected to explain yourself.
That can be exhausting.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve stopped worrying about keeping up with every new idea. I’d rather spend my energy becoming a better human being. I’d rather learn how to be kinder, healthier, more patient, and more understanding.
Maybe that’s my place in this season of life.
I don’t have all the answers. I don’t think any of us do.
But I do know this…
I don’t want to add more noise to the world.
I want to add more peace.
