The Pressure We Put on Ourselves
Disclaimer: This is solely my opinion based on my life experiences. I am not an expert, just someone who has lived through enough seasons of life to reflect on what I’ve learned.
This morning I woke up feeling completely discombobulated.
My sleep was all over the place, and when I finally got out of bed, I had this overwhelming feeling that I was behind.
Then I stopped for a moment and looked at the facts.
My work call-out was ready.
My blogs had already been planned.
I had enough time to get dressed.
I wasn’t late.
The only thing that was behind… was my sleep. 🤣
It made me realize something.
Sometimes the hardest person to keep up with… is ourselves.
We create timelines.
We create expectations.
We convince ourselves we should be doing more, accomplishing more, moving faster, or somehow being “better.”
Many times, no one else is putting that pressure on us.
We are.
Life already comes with enough challenges. We don’t need to become another one.
There is nothing wrong with striving to grow and improve. I believe in setting goals and working hard. But I also believe there are days when we need to stop, breathe, look at the facts, and realize…
We’re doing better than we’re giving ourselves credit for.
Today reminded me that feeling behind and actually being behind are two very different things.
Maybe it’s time we become a little kinder to the person staring back at us in the mirror.
