What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

๐ŸŒธ Embracing My Japanese Heritage ๐ŸŒธ

When I think about the aspects of my cultural heritage I am most proud of, my Japanese roots rise to the top.

Iโ€™ve always been drawn to the philosophy of Ikigai โ€” the sense of purpose that flows through life, guiding not just what we do, but how we live. Itโ€™s a reminder that our days can hold meaning in both the small and the profound.

I also hold close the embrace of Wabi Sabi โ€” seeing beauty in imperfection, valuing simplicity, and recognizing that lifeโ€™s cracks and weathered edges carry their own kind of grace.

There is something deeply inspiring in the way Japanese elders live โ€” their longevity, their strength, their agility. Their lives reflect balance: simple meals, mindful movement, and community woven into everyday rituals.

I find myself especially interested in learning more about the rituals of movement in Japanese culture โ€” gentle practices that support flexibility, balance, and vitality. I want to incorporate these into my own life, strengthening my body so I can move more freely and with fewer challenges as I age. Itโ€™s something I hope to explore through research, and yes, maybe even through YouTube videos that show these movements in practice.

For me, these aspects of my Japanese heritage are not just traditions to admire, but wisdom to live into. They remind me that a life of purpose, simplicity, and grace is not only possible โ€” itโ€™s something to be celebrated. ๐ŸŒป
