Tower Window Wildlife with Lady Flava
A Beautiful Morning with My Neighborhood Friends
This morning reminded me why I love sitting in my tower window.
Before most people had finished their first cup of coffee, my neighborhood friends had already started their day.
The squirrels were putting on an acrobatic performance worthy of a circus act. One raced across the utility wires, climbed the pole, and leaped from branch to branch as if it had somewhere very important to be. I watched in amazement as it balanced on wires and tree limbs with a confidence I could only admire.
Not long after, the birds arrived.
Roscoe and Blush made appearances, along with a lighter-colored finch that caught my attention. His coloring was softer than the others, almost peachy in the morning sunlight. He seemed determined not to give me a good front-facing photograph, but he was beautiful just the same.
At one point, I noticed something that made me smile. There were different kinds of birds sharing the same tree at the same time. It was a reminder that nature has a way of making room for everyone.
Poe stopped by as well, strutting across the grass like he owned the neighborhood. As usual, he carried himself with confidence and purpose. Fortunately, Tom and Jerry were nowhere to be found, which meant the squirrels enjoyed a peaceful morning without being chased.
The seagulls, however, continue to challenge me. No matter how often they fly overhead, I never seem to get a good photograph of one. They remain my most elusive tower visitors.
As I sat by the window with my hydration drink, coffee cup nearby, and Musty keeping watch from the cat tree, I found myself feeling grateful.
Sometimes we spend so much time looking for adventure that we forget to notice the life happening right outside our own window.
This morning, the sky was blue, the wildlife was active, and the neighborhood felt alive.
For a little while, the world felt peaceful.
And honestly, that was enough.
