A Taste of Flava
Good Morning Friends,
Today, I gave myself permission to call off work.
I rarely do that because I was raised to push through. For most of my life, that’s exactly what I did. But I’m learning that there comes a time when your body has the final say.
This morning I woke up with pressure building in my head, a little nausea, and my right hip reminding me that it has had enough. When the pressure seems to travel from my head right down into my hips, I’ve learned that’s my body’s way of telling me to slow down.
So today, I’m listening.
My plan is simple. Rest. Hydrate. Hopefully get my digestive system moving again and give my body the opportunity to reset.
One of the hardest parts of living with chronic health issues isn’t always the symptoms themselves. Sometimes it’s waiting.
Waiting for appointments.
Waiting for referrals.
Waiting for answers.
Waiting for the next step.
I’m caught up in the delays of our medical system right now. My appointment with my new primary care provider isn’t until the end of August, and I won’t see my physiatrist until the beginning of September.
It reminds me that healthcare often requires as much patience as it does perseverance.
So today, instead of being frustrated by everything I can’t control, I’m going to focus on what I can.
I can drink more water.
I can rest without guilt.
I can be kind to myself.
I can trust that healing isn’t always measured by one day, but by the choices we make along the way.
Some Mondays are meant for accomplishing great things.
And some Mondays are simply meant for taking care of ourselves.
Today is one of those Mondays.
Happy Monday, Friends. 🌻
Blessings,
Lady Flava
