Listening to the Whispers Before They Become Shouts

Have you ever had one of those days where you just don’t feel like yourself?

You’re not necessarily sick.

You don’t have a fever.

You can’t really explain it.

You just feel… off.

That’s where I am today.

I woke up with pressure building in my head, a little nausea, more pain in my right hip, and just an overall feeling that my body wasn’t at its best.

For years, I would have pushed through. I would have convinced myself that I could make it through the workday and deal with it later.

Today, I made a different choice.

I listened.

One thing I’ve learned over the past few years is that our bodies usually don’t surprise us. They communicate with us long before we realize what’s happening.

Sometimes it’s a headache.

Sometimes it’s fatigue.

Sometimes it’s changes in our digestion.

Sometimes it’s increased pain.

Sometimes it’s simply feeling “off.”

Those are often the whispers.

The problem is many of us have become so busy that we ignore those whispers until they become shouts.

I’ve also learned the importance of paying attention to patterns.

What makes my symptoms better?

What makes them worse?

How do I feel after I rest?

What changes when I hydrate?

These are questions only we can answer because we are the ones living in our bodies every single day.

I’m not a doctor, but I am becoming an expert on my own body.

And that’s something I encourage all of us to do.

Keep track of your symptoms.

Notice the patterns.

Share those observations with your healthcare team.

Sometimes the smallest detail can become an important piece of the puzzle.

Today, my body whispered.

Instead of waiting for it to shout, I decided to listen.

Maybe that’s today’s Health & Wellness reminder for all of us.

Our bodies are always talking.

The question is…

Are we listening?

Something To Think About…

Blessings,
