Daily Intention In, Today’s Victory Out
One thing I have really come to value in my daily life is starting my day with a Daily Intention and ending my day with Today’s Victory.
At first glance, it may seem small. Simple. Maybe even routine. But the more I do this for myself and the more I share it through my blogs, the more I realize it truly helps shape how I move through my day.
My intention helps me set the tone.
It gives me something positive and grounding to carry with me before the demands of the day start pulling at me. Before the hard calls. Before the frustrations. Before the misunderstandings. Before my body decides whether it wants to cooperate or not.
And then at the end of the day, Today’s Victory gives me a moment to pause and reflect.
It reminds me that no matter what kind of day I had, there is usually still something to be grateful for, something to acknowledge, and something I handled well.
For example, Wednesday was a hard phone day.
The calls were difficult. People were confused. Some didn’t have the right information. Some didn’t seem to have pen and paper ready when they needed to write things down. The phone gods were doing entirely too much. Yet through all of that, I still handled what was in front of me the best I could.
I gave two Dr. D injection patients the information they needed for their appointments:
- address
- directions
- mandatory arrival time
- and the reminder that if they are sedated, they need a driver who stays with them
I also checked in Dr. W and Dr. L patients and confirmed their information, then notified the MAs in 540, even though we never check in their patients over there. The MAs were appreciative, and that felt good.
It was a hard phone day, no doubt about it. But one thing I am learning about myself is that I truly try to help the patient as much as I reasonably can, rather than letting them get stuck playing phone tag over and over again.
That matters to me.
And even with all of that, the hard calls did not stop me from being grateful that it was also a good pain day.
That right there is exactly why I believe in starting with intention and ending with victory.
Because life is rarely all one thing.
A day can be frustrating and still be blessed.
A day can be hard and still hold something good.
A day can test your patience and still give you a reason to say thank you.
When I start my day with intention, I give myself direction.
When I end my day with a victory, I give myself closure.
I really believe we can set the tone for our day, and at the end of it, we can let go a little easier by identifying one victory. It doesn’t have to be huge. Sometimes the victory is that we showed up. Sometimes the victory is that we stayed calm. Sometimes the victory is that our body gave us a little relief. Sometimes the victory is simply that we kept going.
For me, these daily practices are not just blog content.
They are becoming part of how I care for myself.
And in this season of my life, that means a lot.
